Here's the deal all ... after the car sits for awhile (sometimes for a day, sometimes for a few minutes -- and it doesn't matter if it is locked or unlocked) I'll hit the 'unlock' button on the key fob and ... NOTHING.
I can hold down the 'unlock' and 'lock' buttons at the same time for about 15 seconds (without entering the Learn Key Fob routine on the DIC) and the horn will give a short blast, and the key fob is functional again. I've checked the battery in the key fob, and it is fine.
It's not that big of a deal - just really annoying when it doesn't work and I actually have to use the key to unlock the door (geez, what did we do before key fobs?!?)
Anyone else had this problem? And if so, how did you fix it?
I have an identical 00 to the one in your message picture .... right down to the wheels and fob problem. I only have one fob so I have not been able to tell it would happen with a different fob. How about yours? Happen with different fobs?
Yea man mine is doing the same thing. Never fixed it so I said the hell with it. One guy told me to buy a new one, havent yet. So I dont know if that fixs the problem. Ive messed with the Fuse box under passenger feet with the fuses and mainley on the (i think, cant really remember, been a while) Body Module Fuse and its works but then goes forgets again. I got tired messing with it. If yall find anything on fixing this annoying problem please let me know!
I recommend buying a new key fob. I had the same problem w/ my 2000. I tried replacing the batteries, holding the lock and unlock buttons, re-learning the fobs. The fob would only work for about a minute and then would not stay synchronized. I tried some of the other suggestions posted on the forum before I gave in and bought a new one from Ecklers. Took about 2 weeks to receive and I have had no problems since.
Me and the S.O went out for dinner on sat. when we finished and went to the car, the fob only unlocked her door. It would not unlock the drivers side, I had to have her open the door.
Mine is doing that too. I have thought about trying a new battery first, but if that doesn't work, guess I may have to get a new fob.
I did the new battery, but after about 24 hours I still have to do the "re-learn". I would ordinarily just not lock it as often, but I LOVE my top-down tech window valet too much!
Guess I may have to get a new fob too....GROUP PURCHASE!?

When I got home I tried again and it worked.
wonder what that is?

That is a problem with the body control module (BCM) for the driver's side door. I had that same thing happen, intermittently, on the passenger door. Had the module replaced. It worked flawlessly for about two years, and now it will occasionally do the same thing, and I have to cycle the lock and unlock a couple of times to unlock it with the fob. I just said the hell with it. GM should buy Ford's system from them. Much greater range, never misses, never fails and the batteries last much longer.

same problem, got new ones, still happened occasionally - so now every time I get out the door, I hit the lock button manually, so if the FOB doesn't work, I don't look like an idiot and have to open the door again and manually lock it
I noticed it will always happen in the same places - I just say my car gets nervous in certain areas
