Default Feedback on Firestone Wide Oval?

Anyone have any feedback or comments on these tires? I'm considering getting a set, the price is right ($784 out the door). I'll need to go with 295/35/18 in the rear (not available in 275/40/18). Should I go with stock size 245/45/17 in the front or go up to 265/40/17 for the fronts.
Thanks,
Steve

I have them in the 265/40R17's and 295/35R18's and love'em. They're a little loud on certain road surfaces, but they grip well and have excellent wet weather characteristics. Since mine's a DD, they're about as good as you can get, IMHO.

Are they still using that name!!!??? I recall back in the days before the popularity of the radial tire, the Wide Oval was Firestone's (or someone's) "gimmick" to sell tires. Are these wide ovals radials?

Thanks,

I put on a set in Z06 size - stock C5 Mag Wheels and am very pleased. Tire Rack has them on special for $600. Cost another 80-100 for balancing and freight, so your pricing is not too far off.

I like them and they are less loose than the Kumho's and much nicer than the EMT's.

I have them on my Z06s and for the price you cannot beat that tire. I really like them and the best price I found was on tire rack. I managed to cut a 1.9 60 foot with them so they are sticky for a street tire.

Good to hear the positive comments on the tires. And the price is very good for a set. I run a set of the Firestone Firehawk runflats on mine during the winter months and really like them. Guess I'll be checking out the Wide Ovals when I need to replace my summer tires.
