Default hidden radar detectors??

I planning on installing a hidden radar detector in my car... and have some questions.

Do you have an escort sr7, K40, or Bel rx75 in your car? Where is the radar antenna and laser pickup located? Where did you mount the display?

Thanks,
JesseJ

I use the SR7..front detectors are hidden in the brake air ducts and the rear detector is on the top of the rear license plate. I flush mounted the display where the ashtray was. Good luck!

My car had a K40 installed when I bought it. My intitial impression of it was that it was junk. I used it for around 6 weeks, and in that time I only got ONE warning that was not false. I had downloaded the manual for it to be sure I had everything set the way it should be. I got tired of its intrusive shrill false signals, so out it came and into the round can.

not to start a radar war... I know a LOT of you like the V1, and I'm sure it is great. But it looks bulky and hard to hide. I decided to get a bel rx75 which is a lot like the escort sr7. I'm looking for a spot to hide the front radar antenna and laser pod. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Bel makes nice units, and i agree that in states where radar detectors are not allowed, a hidden unit like the rx75 is best. Were i to have a similar Bel unit, <ahem> i would mount the radar detector unit behind the shroud that goes around the fog lights. It can be screwed directly to a frame cross bar so it is solid.

The laser detector could be mounted in approximately the same place, just outside and on the other side of the plate, stuck to car with velcro. You'll never see the radar detector, and the laser detector is virtually invisible. You should keep it close to the plate, since that's the main aiming point.

The ash tray makes a great spot for the head unit. Were i to have one i would cut the back out of the ashtray, remove the "door", and slip it in there. Flip the main cover down, and you'd never know it was there. Also easy to reach and hear.

My SR-1 laser detectors are in the fog light recesses / behind the grill - and over the rear license plate. The front radar antena is in the nose of the car - right behind the SMC plastic - just below the license plate cover. It picks up just fine - I also have a V1 in the car - the two usually go off within a few seconds of each other. SR-1's make great stealthy installs - The arrows on a V1 are really handy - It's sad that we have to choose between the two - If only Valentine would make a remote mount antena like the SR-7 ...

Did I see your Vette at MTI about 4 or 5 weeks ago. I noticed something in the brake ducts in a Vette ouside when I picked mine up and went back in and asked Jeff what it was. He said a remote radar detector and that there was also one in the back. Very cool.

I have a Bel Vector LR Remote. I have had it for 5 years. It stopped working one time, and Bel replaced it.
