Painted Mufflers

When I bought my black 01 coupe the mufflers where painted black. Is this normal from factory or is it that someone painted after purchase?

Just wondering

It's normal ...
If you take 000 steel wool, you can polish them up.

Thats normal and then I added some BBQ paint when it faded and chipped

Thanks for the info. Ya mine is starting to chip and fall off. I didn't know if I should repaint them or steel wool it all off and leave it. I kind of like the painted look especially with the car being black.

Little known fact: Painted mufflers conserve heat and add bout' 25HP. Almost as much as the air bridge.

Seriously most stock xhaust comes painted although most also are peeling. My sweet Z06 Ti however are silvery and like new.

It's normal and will chip and wear off over time. I saw mine recently for the 1st time in over a year and they look like crap. Of course my Stingers still look good, so i really don't car.

I just had the dealer repaint mine......under warranty.

Will someone please explain this to me...why are some mufflers painted? Is this a factory thing? I have an '03 with stock unpainted mufflers...this is normal, right?
