Anybody having drilled rotors experiencing cracking?
I am wondering if it's true about drilled rotors having trouble with cracking between the drilled holes? Or is this place just doing a sales pitch? http://www.stopforce.com/defined.html
I have heard of it happening more form the last hole to the outside of the rotor. That is why I decided to stay with slotted only rotors when I replaced mine. Supposedly the pricier brands do not tend to have this issue from what I have found out.
Everything I've read on the forum indicates that anything drilled is going to crack if pushed hard. Most say one track session is enough to do in a set of drilled rotors. I've been thinking of putting some on for looks and keeping a set of regular rotors and pads for track events. Best of both; looks and performance.
I don't race at the tracks, unless it's at the drag strip. From what I read from that Rotor maker STOPFORCE, the Porshe rotors that he mods for Vettes has the vent holes casted in it, and not drilled, which is why they claim don't crack. Seems logical. I was just wondering how much truth there is to it. They only sell front rotors, since the fronts do most of the braking and make the most heat.
So you people think just normal city driving, and some 1/4 mile drag strip runs, the regular GM drilled rotors will be OK? Cracks done't bother me. It's if they crack and pieces come off, that bothers me. I have one rotor on my car that I think is warpped because it pulses at very slow speed (10 mph or less) , so I am thinking of going to drilled rotors, mostly for looks, but also maybe it will run cooler and not warp.
If you drive on the street and dont ever heat them up, then they will last. If you drive them on the track, they will crack and become trash in no time.

I had a set on a C4 that showed cracks after two years of driving in AZ. My C5 is doing fine after two years. Could've been the extra heat in AZ that I don't have here in FL. I drove the C4 a little harder as well. No track time for either car.
I have some Baer Eradispeeds on mine. Haven't taken it to the track and they have not cracked in the year and a half I have had them on the car.
Same here. I've had my Eradispeeds for over 2 years on my daily driver and NO cracks. The car's never been on a road course type track but has done some drag strip work.
I got one crack on one of my Erradispeeds. Had to replace the rotor ring for safety reasons. I had many hard canyon runs and two track days before I noticed the crack.
Any heavy duty braking (e.g., canyon runs, auto-x, track) will crack drilled rotors. Its just a matter of time. Even the StopFORCE are not immune, but they will take a helluva beating before they will let you down.
BTW, that's my coupe on the StopFORCE "Pictures" page. I highly recommend them.
Now... does anyone know of a 2-piece solid (i.e., non-drilled/slotted) rear rotor, so that I can have somewhat of a match to my fronts?
If you're going to go road racing (not drag racing), stick with the solid rotors. For the street and an occasional run down the strip, drilled/slotted are fine.
