Default Replacing brakes - need opinions

I'm going to be replacing my brakes in a couple of weeks and am trying to decide between the GM AC Delco brake pads that are on the Z06 or the Hawk HP Street brake pads. Anyone have experiences with these? I'd like to get a bit more grip when I stop. At about the same time, I'm replacing the rotors with the Sportbrake slotted/drilled. Thanks!

The sportbrakes are very nice. Do a search and you will find many posts. Both brake pads are good quality. If you want the best stopping power I would go with the Hawks. If you want less brake dust go with the GM ceramic. The GM's also have good breaking. Not for racing though. The Hawks really produce a lot of dust.

I put on new NAPA rotors $25/ea, and Hawk HP pads. Virtually no dust. The hawks grip like glue and don't have any fade or mush in them. Every once in awhile, it wil act like it wants to pull to the left or right briefly, but that may be anti-lock kicking in - very short and subtle though.

Thought it was a pretty good choice.

Ceramic is the only way to go with your new slotted and drilled rotors. Very little brake dust. A lot easier to clean the wheels.

I have the Hawk HP street pads on mine and the only thing negative I can say about them at this point is that they do have a tendency to squeal a bit when applying the brakes. Other than that, the have been very good.

What he said. If you dont go to the track ceramics are great for street use.

Those are the other brakes I was thinking about - where did you get them and how much did they cost you?

Just remember, life is full of compromises. Hard pads like Hawks stop better, but they squeal, pull or wear out rotors faster. Ceramic pads don't have as much dust, but they don't stop as well.

For myself, I've followed the recommendations of a certain GM engineer here and stuck with the stock pads and been very happy with that decision.
