Yup, you want a virgin surface and dawn is the easiest way. Z1 and Z2 are really all you need (brown and pink bottles). Make sure you get some quality large (medium shower size) micro-fiber towels too... these are good for washing and removing wax (but not applying obviously).
The Z1 you want to leave on, and the Z2 I'd recommend leaving on overnight and wiping it off in the morning. Apply it with next to no pressure straight back and forth (not in circles) and remove it the same way. The larger micro-fiber towels won't get clogged up with the Zaino residue it removes like some others, and they don't scratch.
Some people go crazy and apply tons of coats, but really two coats of Z2 is more than enough to make it look wet.

Or use the ZFX so you do not have ro use the Z1. I used the claybar first, dawn, then Z2 with ZFX. First coat went on hard (more elbow grease) 2nd and 3rd went real easy. I like the Z6 and Z8 detail spray for a quick wipe down. Great stuff, order all you need the first time so you only pay the one shipping charge.
