Default NITTO Tires

Input on Nitto 555R Drag 305/35-18 for the back of my car and the Nittio 555 extreme 275/35-18 for the front. Are these a good selection for a street build up that has FI?

Thanks

Steve

I have Nitto 555's up front and Nitto 555 DR's on the back. It's an excellent combo IMO.

Mark,

I was hoping someone would speak up on this. The guys in my town like the michelon sport--but I am going with a setup similar to the one you had before the turbo upgrade--just the A&A ATI DS1C setup. I know from several others that run the sport not enough traction for my likening. Do these last a full season? If I go to the track do I need to change to ET streets? I have an extra set of stock rims for the ET's is that is the way to go.

Thanks

Steve

...exactly ...

StuzVette has 285 35 18 front on 18X9.5 wheel
...and 305 35 18 rear on 18X10.5 wheel...

Great traction and I have a 2nd set for touring which are the michelins and I have only used them once because the ride and the traction is so awesome on the Nitto...I drive long distance on the Nitto now

Whether they last a full season or not depends upon the length of your season...and your driving habits ...

Ditto that! I put the Nittos on for the track & have never taken them off. I have a set of Yokohamas on my stock rims just collecting dust.

Me too.

I run the 17/255 555 Extremes up front and 18/285 555R's on the rears. I really like the ride. Nice and smooth. You give up some on the twisties with DR's on the rears but gain quite a bit of straightline traction. You'll still be able to spin the tires using the 555R's but they stick much better/sooner than regular radials. I saw a big improvement using this setup compared the 19/19 Pilot Sport setup I used to run.

See sig for my hp/tq numbers.

Sounds like a good set up to me. As soon as my BFG's are gone i'm going this route.

I got to agree with you on that one the forum members have been super helpful in assisting me in my FI upgrade, by answering questions through posts and plenty of PM's. The real reason I posted on the Nittos question on this forum was to find Vet owners who are using them and either like or dislike them. So far I have only got postive posts on these tires, and again I say thanks to everyone who has responded to my orginal post on these tires

I got 555s all the way around - if I had known that it would have made such a difference - it owuld have been my first mod - and probably would have saved me from my first accident

geez - the car felt like I was driving a completely different car when I got them put on

I got mine at the beginning of last year and they are still fine. How long they last really varies based on how often you do burn outs.

I refuse to change tires - so no ET streets are needed/wanted.

The Nitto 555R's should last up to 10,000 miles depending on how you drive.

Now, I have heard the BFG drag radials are stickier than the Nittos but only last about 3,000 miles. The BFG's are also much scarier to use in wet conditions than the Nittos. The Nitto 555R's will do fine in the rain if you drive with caution but I've read some horror stories about the BFG's in the rain.

I have the 305s on the rear and 255/40/17 on the front.Have been running them since April of this year and so far no problems.Traction is great on the street but not so grood at the strip.Only ran once with them and I couldn't hook up.(1.8xx 60ft times)This was early in the year and the track was cold.I will try again in the fall and make sure that I heat them up real good.I still would recommend them, they are GREAt on the street.

My set up exactly, although I have an 18x10" wheel in front. I do have a set of 26x11.5 ET Streets for the track on a set of CCW 16x10 wheels.

I feel quite confident this is the BEST setup period. I haven't heard a single negative review from anyone on this forum or others that have run this setup.
