Default Z-06

Hey guy, anyway that you look at it, all Vettes are cool and you can hop them up as much as money and emissions will allow. I was personally confronted with the same decision and finally decided on the Z-06. I think it was the absolute best choice for me. The thing is very very fast, handles like it's on rails etc. I couldn't be happier. Good luck, JD

i think i'm going to look for a ZO6 or a high milage coupe that i can build a motor for. Leaning toward the Z because i like some of the options and 500hp will be easy with a blower and no outher mods. Thanks for all the help. Steve

In 2001, Chevy made some good improvements and options not found in 00 and below. My advice is to get the highest year and lowest mileage car you can afford first, then save for the goodies(don't worry, the vette is fast enough on its own for now unless you plan on racing 600hp supras every day). Start with a good base, and you'll have a neck turning, reliable american exotic that even the imports will respect! good luck with your decision!

p.s.-personally, I like the coupe, it can be upgraded to z06 spec and beyond and you'll have the AWESOME targa top and large cargo capacity!

Default 500 Hp!

Is there any advantage or disadvantages to going either of these paths. Thanks Steve
Why do you need 500 horsepower. A 405 horsepower ZO6 will scare the pants off you and it has the infrastructure to handle the HP already built in.

well 500hp is a start, my daily driver was a 95 fwd turbo talon and it made over 400 at the wheels. I never lost to a vette including a zo6 on 2 different highway runs. My street strip talon made 620 on just turbo and the i'm putting a bottle in soon. My 01 gsxr 1000 made 270 @ 13psi on pump, and 357 on race gas. Oh bike is for sale if anybody is intrested, 18k OBO (no beginers i will not sell this to anybody thats not a bike fan or into hevily modified bikes.). So i'm sorry to say the beloved ZO6 stock just wont make the cut. There are a few fast imports around here and it would suck to loose to the cars i build for my customers( I have a import and bike shop) Well it looks like i'll be selling a few of my outher toys so i can get a ZO6. The one on e-bay looks tempting but i'm not ready to buy. If anybody would like to see pics of the cars or bike i just need somebody to put them up for me. The bike is located in MASS if anybody is intrested, I have well over 30k invested. Thanks Steve

Just do your best to find a low mileage car with little mods done to it, so you can start from scratch. If the car has mods and the driver/owner does what I do, logs everything in my maintenance log, it is easier to work with that. I love the ZO6 and would really like to have one, but to be perfectly honest...nothing compares to cruising with the top off.

Definitely the coupe. Taking the top off on the way home from work is an experience not to be missed.

Even a relatively low miles 01 coupe will be in the mid to high 20's. So, with the budget you have you need to look for a low miles 98-99, with that your looking at 20-22K, as said before, in the under 20K price range your looking at something with higher miles.

Good hunting and paying a little more for a good low miles coupe and saving for the mods is the way I'd recommend
