Before you take the system off, try putting on an X-pipe. My system had a bad drone in it in 6th gear and when I installed an X-pipe, the drone virtually disappeared.
In addition to my 04 Vette, I have a Mitsubishi 3000GT with a Borla Catback system. I have a similar problem with droning and called Borla. Then shipped my some venturies which are tack welded on the inside of the pipes.
Have not installed them as yet, but I would call Borla and discuss your issue.
Thanks guys! I've got an x pipe on the way, but i've heard mixed reviews as to how well it works. My car being a A4 with a 3.15, when i'm turning over 2k, or 70, the exhaust is roaring!
if borla's are to loud, you should probably go back to stock or maybe z06 ti's.borla's are rumbly with a little resonance, but there are far louder systems out there.good luck.
SFE...good luck with the X-pipe on the A4. I too had the drone problem, so I went to the ZO6 Ti cat back mufflers and I love it. I also loved the sound of the Borlas, but the drone between 1300 and 1800 RPM got to me. With The ZO6 Ti I also run X-pipe and hi-flo cats. This give the ZO6 Ti mufflers a little more bark at WOT. Good luck with your choice
The last resort to taking them off. Love the sound at low speeds, hate it on the freeway.
Give Mike Challgren a call at Free Flow Exhaust in Agoura Hills, CA. He has an baffle he developed that is inserted into the exhaust just before the over axle pipes (where they bolt together). It is tack welded inside the pipe and from what I've heard reduces resonance very effectively. His number is 818-707-0475.

Same thing here, A4 & 3.15 I had previously put in sound material then I installed Borla Stingers. And they really got in my head. After the X-Pipe was installed big difference. I think you will be OK.
Thanks for all the responses. I'm hoping the x-pipe does it, my last trip down 1-5 holding 2500 rpm overwhelmed the stereo (and me)completely. I will give borla a call too, just to see what they may have to help the situation. I'd prefer not to weld anything in because normally the sounds just fine, but on longer, higher speed trips, it's a different story.
Brother I feel you pain....resonance sucks on my dd with stinger quad ovals. I have a partition, sound deadening material and Lloyds heavy weight cargo mat but still get resonance with windows up on trips. Love my stingers so looks like x-pipe is next. A4 with 2:73
Sell the Borlas (somebody will pick them up quick) and purchase some GHL mufflers. Same design without the resonance. Maybe go back to stock for a few weeks then you will be ready for another set up.
Drone??? Resonance??? What are yall talking about??? Unless your 70 and don't like a deep throaty sound why did you buy the exhaust???? I had a V6-Firebird with headers and a borla catback that was louder than this system.
I've heard great things about the GHLs, but they're expensive! Figure i'd be about a $600 upgrade after selling mine. Quiet when cruising and loud like the borlas at full tilt - sounds good to me.

Luke, put the X-pipe on and that should cut out a lot of the drone. I had the Stingers with the same setup you have (A4 with 3.15's) and the drone wasn't bad at highway speeds. Good luck.
X pipe it is Tim. Oh, and I think we're finally going to be able to meet for the dyno run later this august. Going to have the Maggie installed by then? I was looking to do the same thing (but unpolished) hopefully by Christmas.
