I know that this is not really C5 related but I hope the Moderators leave this open because I find the results of the poll & the respective comments are very interesting. I actually thought that there would be more die-hard Corvette fans. So is the GM strategy working?
I saw that one earlier! I cannot believe so many people chose European over the C5!
The C5 is no longer new and may buyers want a new car. BMW, Porche, Audi, Benz all offer some interesting cars. For years GM has walked away from performance oriented cars and they are not recovering quickly. Even the new Cadillacs have some failings when compared to European competition.
I have always thought that the vette provided great performance bang for the buck. The C6 still does and I prohesy that it will win in the marketplace and be profitable for GM.
I love my C5 but expect that I will move up to a C6 or C7 some day. Mine will last a while, but eventually the urge for something new will catch up with me and ....
Some of those "European" marques posted are owned by Ford. BMWs z4 are assembled in the US. It is a global market place, parts come from all over the world. Buy what you like.
interesting poll. was the question more geared towards what if no vettes existed, or what if there was no c6?
if no vettes existed, i'd be in a mustang gt with some added go-fast goodies, and have ken king do the interior! that's within the budget. outside the budget, of course, that opens up the options...like a modena convertible, new porsche turbo, perhaps an aston martin...
if simply no c6, i could care less...i'm driving my dream car, a new '04 tr/mr z06 that i got to drive out of the dealership. sometimes i have to kick myself as a reminder how lucky i am!

Jami has a C6 vert rather than a Mercedes or Jaguar or Cadillac...
...more than likely she would have ended up in the Mercedes...
C6 killed their deal...and thats good for her and me
Stu...I think you are right because there seems to be quite a few first time Vette owners in the C6 group. But I am wondering if it is at the expense of losing sales of some die-hard Vette fans who keep their C5 instead of trading-in for a C6.

I think your percentage that would "go C5 all the way" are former C5 owners. I believe most C6 owners are new to the Corvette or had Vettes before, but had move over to Euro or Japanese cars. The styling of the C6 and the improved performance has brought these buyers over or back to the Corvette family. Just my $.02

I know I might go ahead and get another C6 for me...
... but the gang would hang me if I got rid of StuzVette
