Lost to an SRT4??
Ok....I have a '99 A4 with 3.15, CAI, Corsa Tigersharks only.
Could a stock Neon SRT4 really hang with me? The guy runs me a few times from 60-xxx and hung with me each time neck and neck. He gets to a light with me and his first question was....'how much did that cost..'. What an idiot, might he be proposing his 1/2 price Neon hung with me? I asked what he had done to it and he said stock...stock turbo only. BS. That car isn't that fast.....is it???

IB4TL, but I will say I had one almost if not hang with me one day. He also said it was stock with just a CAI. Me personally, I think he had the boost turned up. On another note, I also took one pretty good one day. So, he probably had some mods. BTW, this was while I had the '98 Pace Car with basically just SLP exhaust and a vortex CAI.

My best 1/4 was 13.1@108 so how is a 14 sec car hanging? Good driver? I mean from a 60mph punch I wouldn't think driver would be much of an issue but who knows. I just think it was funny he asked me what my car cost. I said, 'more than yours..' hehe. 
I guess its time to get the mod bug. On a side note, a Crustang MACH I ran me after that and hung with me and even pulled slightly ahead until we hit 110. He couldn't have been stock right? Man, it was just a bad night. a NEON and a Crustang!!! Someone please hold me.

Dude.....unless both of those cars have some fairly serious mods......your car has issues.
You've got the Mach I by 50hp and 300+ lbs. That's the equivalent of 80 hp he needs to have added to even stay even......

Only time ever dynoed with the CAI only was 300rwhp.
To me that makes it sort of a 'dog' but if I can run 13.1 then how are 14 second cars hanging? Maybe my car is 'sick'. I am sad. I am going to go spend money now.

What could be wrong with mine? High mileage shouldn't matter (just hit 89,000), I've never dogged the car, always gotten regular maintenance. The dyno pull was like at around 40,000 miles, maybe 4-5 yrs ago. The Mustang didn't sound stock, thats for sure. That Neon's turbo was louder than heck, I guess the whining sound is the turbo spooling down? Would turning the boost up make that big of a difference? What would that MACH I need to hang with me? Perhaps I should strap down on the dyno again and see how I fare. If something isn't quite right I need to remedy that. Off to play poker....with my luck maybe I shouldn't.

Cranking up the boost would definately do it. My SC'ed GTP went from 240hp to 325hp fairly easily with few other mods than cranking the boost from 6 psi to 12 psi.
As far as the Mustang goes.......you never know......plenty of cheap mods available for the old stang. Gears for those cars are cheap......so 4.10's, intake, exhaust, tuning and a good driver wouldn't make the results too hard to believe I guess.

with minimal amounts of money someone can make an srt4 ripp some serious a$$. I have had my run ins with them in the past with my 2002 ///M3 I won but lemme tell you...those cars are not to be taken lightly and with the right combo of thing will beat my ///M that i just sold and give my Z06 a farely decent run..I woudl still prob win but for $20,000 you cant beat it if u want a fast car...with 4-5 grand worth of turbo mods and exhaust easily in the mid to low 12's
