Default Car Covers

It's time for a new cover so I thought I'd see what you guys have to say. The car spends a couple nights per week sitting in the airport parking lot and I always cover it. The last 2 covers I've had were Covercraft Noah and they did a good job, but when it rained I got whatever dust was on the cover(here in AZ you get the dust storm before the rain) washing through the cover and the car ended us a mess. Soooo, I've been looking for something a little more rainproof. I see specs on the Covercraft WeatherShield show it as rainproof yet still breathable. Anyone have any experience with this cover? Thanks.

Most covers will do the white dust thing. When the rain drys, the comtaminates in the rain and the air, cause the dust.

I also park my car at the airport parking lot and have had good luck with the Wolf car cover. The car is a little dusty sometimes when I get back but I'm using the cover for sun and thunderstorm protection while I'm gone.
The fact that the car is a little dirty doesn't bother me. At least I know the cover is breathing.

My car cover is used in the garage of my home only....

Park your babies in the garage at the airport guys!! Then no problems...

P.S. Do you get free parking when you are a Pilot? If not, that's a bummer!!

Maybe that's the problem?? They make you park in an "employee lot" and it is out in the open... Oh yeah, that sucks...

I don't think I could have a daily driver Vette... I'm WAY too ****... Lol @ me...

Anyway, good luck finding a cover that better fits your needs...

Traveling for work? Won't they pay for transportation to/from your house to airport?

The $$$ you spent on a Noah cover should be enough to cover a few shuttle trips back and forth, no?

I have a few covers (ugh). One is a Noah. It works OK but it seems to collect moisture underneath on damp nights. I have a real cheap cover; I paid $19.99 because it was a customer return in a damaged box, I keep on a convertible I keep outside. Now that cover works great for some reason. Sorry I don't know what brand it is. Oops, I still have the box. It says, TYBOND. I got it at Courtesy Chevrolet in Phoenix on Pierson St.

Airline employee parking for me is reasonable on the cost end but it isn't covered parking!!! Now that would be civilized, drive the vette to work with covered employee parking!!

Yes Sir, I suppose I could take a shuttle and write it off on my taxes, but just like all of us here I'm a "car guy". I enjoy driving the thing and the independence I have not using public transportation. I've owned a Vette since I was in my early 20's(I'm now an old man of 50) so although I still treat it with care it doesn't bother me to use it as my daily driver / airport car.

Thanks to all for your suggestions, I think I'm gonna give the WeatherShield a try and see how it works out.

I feel your pain on the dust issue, I just take my CALIFORNIA Duster and wipe as much of as I can.

VTW, everytime I fly (I do it a lot in the Navy), I always wonder what it would be like to haul ballz next to a jet airliner, it must be a rush to have all that power of the jet engines.

Thank you for keeping us safe in teh skies, I am a nervous flyer, but appreciate each and everytime I land safely!

I don't know if there is a cover that will do what you want and be safe for the finish of your car!!

I have the Wolf as well. Works well, and you can wash it if needed. No problems with the finish. Always make sure both the cover and car are clean B4 using it.

Here's something that might help you feel less nervous next time you're about to take-off. Above EVERYTHING else my mission when I go to work is to make sure "I" get from A to B safely, the point being if "I" get there safely so does everyone that sits behind me.

And thank you Sir for your service and putting it on the line to keep all of us at home safe!!

There is one thing you can do. Use Two car covers. Put the softest one on first. You don't have to buckle it down. Over that spred a waterproof tarp. Put the second car cover on over the tarp and buckle it down so the wind doesn't give it to a neighbor. Your car will stay as clean as you left it.

I have a Stormshield Corvette cover with one of the best reps I have heard, I mean that's why I bought it. I bought it, but never used it. I have kept it in a storage bag. PM me if you're interested.

Stormshields are very good to use for your situation. You can also get the stormproof which is one step above the stormshield, a much better material!

I am sorry to hear that your cover didnt so the job that you were looking for it to do. However, if you were looking for the Stormshield cover which is an extremely water resistant cover, and UV protected with mirror pockets to fit your corvette. If you were interested in a Storshield cover, it is a 3-layer cover, dont hesitate to give me a call. If there is anything else you could use to accessorize or personalize your C5 let me know.

P.S. the stormshield is a two-tone cover available in red, blue, silver and yellow. I have blue and silver in stock for immediate shipment and the others would take 7-10 business days after time of purchase.

I also have a Wolf cover and my car stays outdoors 24/7 under the cover. I have been using it since this past pre-pollen spring and I must say that dust has not been a problem. In fact I find that I don't need to wash the car nearly as often as I did before. Now I can just wash it for some TLC..
