Haven't done...coupe...A4, but I have driven a 2001 ZO6 and a C6 (several times) the throw and the feel of the C6 shifter is very, very nice, the throw is shorter and this is also coming from a former MN6 owner (1999 Z28 with the B&M Shifter) and it is nicer than the B&M...smooth and very fun!

i know fred beans has the whole kit for about $200 and i have seen one here in town on a C5 but it was before i bought my Z and didnt think to ask

I've done it, and love it. Had a BPP shifter and like the C6 assembly alot better. I didn't think it would be that good of a feel. Patches wrote a great article on the swap with pics. Very detailed. If you search my username or his you will find the info.
It's worth it though. A factory feeling short throw. And the install is easy.
