Default Question about brake pads....

OK I am just about finished with a few mods but need your advice on one last item...brake pads. I have the original pads still on (2000 C5)and they leave a ton of brake dust no matter how short the ride ends up being. I was told that CERAMIC PADS were the best to reduce the dust, but then someone else said that SEMI-METALIC was just as effective in reducing the dust. Can you help me please? Also, where is the best bang for the buck to purchase them.
Thanks again for your assistance.

Changed to Raybestos Q, ceramic/metalic at about 1K miles. They still dust more than I like, but, much less than original's. Strangely, no dust on the wheels, only near fender side vent scoops and rear bumper area.

I also use the Raybestos QS Ceramics, they are great for normal use, very low dusting. But not great for aggressive driving.
There are more aggressive pads out there, and probably less dust than the stock pads...depends on how you drive and what you want. Now that really cleared up things for ya....huh?

Well I'm not an aggresive driver nor do I drag at the local strip, mostly enjoying the baby around town etc. So I really don't need something that is going to stop me on a dime from 100mph like some of the koo-koo's that drive here.

Go with ceramic - stop fine - no squeal and no dust.

I read somewhere that Ceremic pads eat up your stock rotors (disks) slowly. Is that true..? How's the stopping on these pads, Im a spirited driver...

Now this is what I was told by some corvette/carmaro techs.
The Ceramics pads will warp the rotors if use hard and will stop a few feet more than the stander pads. Also if you have less dust you have more ware on the rotors is the trade off. I put Ceramics pads on my 94 Vette and I drive a lots on the turnpike after about a year I had wrap my rotors but I had very little dust. So when I went to the D/S rotors on my C-5 I went for the Z06 pads and I do have some dust, but the vette stop great.
