Default Old way or Lazy way?

Fixing to do my first wax job on the vette. instead of the old hand rubbing, thinking of using an electric orbital buffing machine. some of you are doing this, so tell me what is the best type, best speed, and what name brand is it. do you apply the wax by hand then use machine to buff off, ect. Thanks for your input.

Todays waxes and polishes are so easy to put on and take off, I have no reason to buy a buffing machine. A lot of people like Porter-Cable.

Dual action orbital buffers like the Porter Cable 7424 are actually very safe to use. Its the professional type of rotary buffers in the hands of someone inexperienced that can cause damage.

I use a Porter Cable to put waxes/sealants on, but I find it is faster to take them off by hand.

There have been many threads in the past on this topic over in the Car Care Products section of the Forum. Too, several very knowledgeable people hang out in that Forum and you may find it best to ask these questions of the folks there. Good luck.

Recommend you get the Griot's Garage book on this subject. It gives all the speeds for various operations, types of applicators to use, etc. They also sell the Porter-Cable, which is a little more expensive, but an upgrade from the ones you can buy other places. Go to www.griotsgarage.com.

I agree - Porter Cable seems to make a good buffer.
