Column Lock
I purchased my vette about a month ago and experienced column lock for the first time today. Luckily I have two cars and it happened in the garage so it was no big deal. The funny thing is I came back about 5 hours later and it was fine! What gives? The lucky part is that I had just gotten back from a first date after dropping her off. What a nightmare it would've been if it occurred while we were out! Whew ......

Get a column lock bypass and get it now! I thought my 17K miles '98 was immune to the problem becuase it was low mileage. What I found out the hard way is that mileage doesn't matter. It can happen anytime, anywhere. The CLB installation is easy, and well worth the 50 bucks spent.

Yeah.. I wouldnt let me stop it from driving my car.. You can pretty much get it unlockd whenever it did lock.. Drove mine for over a year with no bypass, but then started locking up about every other day...
$50 and 10 mins later.. = NO more issues..

After the hundreds and hundreds of posts on this forum about the column lock problem it is kind of amazing to me that people are still driving around without a CLB installed. Playing the odds I guess. I wonder if the C6's have resolved this problem or if it is going to creep up on them soon? Seems to take a while before it happens on most C5's, but it does happen sooner or later.
