VIN Number code!
Does anyone know or have a link to a web site that describes the code for the 99' C5 VIN numbers? I am assuming that these are codes to what the vehicle is and has on it, and not just a serial number.

It is basically just the serial number but does tell which body style it is.
The RPO which tells you the options should be on the glove box door.

Thanks for the link rws.1. I found 8 out of 38 codes, and I think I found what I was mainly looking for! I was trying to see what gears I have. I must have the 2.73:1 gears. I don't have the option code for the 3.15:1

These are the rear axle codes
Look on the glove box door or under the rear storage covers for one of these codes
G90 Axle, Rear, 3.15 Ratio
G92 Axle, Rear, Performance Ratio
GU2 Axle, Rear, 2.73 Ratio
GU6 Axle, Rear, 3.42 Ratio

Mine does have G90 in the list of codes. So I guess I do have 3.15 gears. Thanks for the info. I got all the codes now except for 5, and it may because I misread it. The only thing different was it said I had am/fm cassette, but I have am/fm CD instead.
