What you need:
1 piece of 1/2" X 48 square bar from Lowe's, about $8
2 SS 7/16 X 1 3/4 bolts
2 SS 7/16 nuts
2 SS 7/16 acorn nuts
I made mine about 19" long, you can make the length whatever you want. Cut 2, 19" lengths of square bar. Mark the location of the door striker pins on the upper and bottom side of the bar, grind one upper and one lower side, 3/8 x 1/4, to match the pin locatioins. You need to be able to insert the bar between the pins and lift it up or push down for the pins to fit into the slots, this holds the bar inplace at the door striker. Place the door where you want it to be in the open position, come out about 7 1/2 " from the end with the slots in it, bend the bar so it's parrell to the latch in the door. You might also have to make a vertical bend, up or down, to allign the bar with the door latch. Make a mark where the door latch is and drill a whole to put the 7/16 bolt through. Install the bolt, regular nut on one side and acorn nut on the outside for a finished look. I buffed these to make them look better. You can paint, powder coat or have the bars chromed....pretty simple to make, just get your bends correct. To install, lock the striker end in place, lift the door handle and slide the bolt in the door latch, to remove, pull the door handle and slide the bolt out. Good Luck....
