NCM Sinkhole Donor
One of the A.C.E. members (Arizona Corvette Enthusiasts) works out there at the Proving Grounds. You're all right, if it were ONLY driving Vettes on a high speed loop it would be a dream job. But they also have to drive the other stuff like Saturns and Azteks!
He has some interesting stories to tell about when they were testing the C5's and some of the unbelievable stuff they put the cars through. He told a story about hitting simulated pot holes at about 80 mph.
Was doing touch and go's at Williams Gateway outside of Phoenix this morning and kept flying over GM's proving grounds... a red and a silver vette going at it the whole time. It was good to see that they actually DRIVE these cars... looked like fun. Made me wonder who you have to know to get a job like that. The outside lane was painted "min speed 90 MPH" Just thought I'd share! Next time I fly that way I'll bring a camera... couldnt tell from 2600 feet if they were Z's or not.
Tell um you want to become a test driver going the OTHER WAY on the track. You can only do RIGHT ovals instead of left ovals--->
You could have declared an emergency and act like you were going to set it down on the straights, do a fly-by then disregard the emergency. Only problem is....the Vette would have to slow down to keep from hitting the C-182
Would be great to see some pictures! A friend we visited recently lives near the proving grounds (Queen Creek) Unfortunately when we stopped to check things out GM had large signs "NO TOURS" posted at the entrance.
