Default Which Rotors?

I am looking to buy a new set of rotors for my car, and would like to find out if there is any certain makes or brands that I should stay away from. I don't want to spend over 1K for the rotors. I have been looking at the Baer 2pc rotors for front, and maybe 2 pc for the back also. Recommendations please.
OH! This is a street car. I don't race except maybe some occasional 1/4 mile runs. Mostly going for looks and I want them to holds it's apperance for a long time, functionablity on the street, and less weight, (Which is why I thought about the 2 piece rotors).

And which pads for good braking with minimum dust?

Baer is good, many people here have them. I will have them.

Save yourself $400 and just get all four one piece. The weight difference I'm sure is not worth that much. Plus no one can really tell that you have 2 piece anyways and it seems like you just want them for looks.

Just get the one piece rotors and have the hats painted with high temp paint.

In dec I put sport brakes drilled and slotted rotors on, there zinc coated and only cost $250. delivered. I believe they are not recommended for auto cross. Brake dust is the same as stock rotors, I used my stock pads. I still have no rust and I put chrome hub covers $200. over them and with the calibers painted red the wheels look great. From recent posts it appears that the company is real busy and a bit hard to get in touch with because its a small company. I have yet to see a bad post on these brakes other then it can be hard to get in touch with them by phone. Good luck

Default AC Delco

I bought AC Delco slotted and driiled rotors ONLY because some "expert" warned me about Baer's premature warping problem. Well, anyway I'm very happy with the Delcos...AND you might want to consider adding rotor hub covers for an even better look - they come in red, black and polished (or I suppose one could paint them any color they want).

Been by their shop twice and will vouch for how busy they are, and the quailty of their work. If you do a search I've posted their contact info on a previous thread. Here are pics of my drilled only Sportbrake rotors. Hope you find what you're looking for!

I've got the one piece Baer Eradispeeds all around my car and they have worked just fine and look very good. You can find cheaper brands (price wise at least) like the Sportbrakes - I understand they are very good quality too.

TBryne has good prices on Bear. Ultimately I think they look the best, and perform very well.

We fitted Baer Eradispeeds front and rear about two years ago on the pace car, they're great!

I compared the weight of my rotors when I swapped in a set of 2-piece Baer fronts and 1-piece rears. The fronts were 2 lbs. lighter each for a rotating mass weight savings of 4 lbs. I think that a significant amount when you're fighting for 100ths and 1000ths of a second at the drag strip.

P.S.- It's easy to tell 2-piece from 1-piece at the 2-piece forged aluminum centers are bolted on. Unless you paint little boltheads around the circumference of your center hubs, that is.

Sportbrake uses Bembro stock, drills and/or slots them per customer order, and coats them with zinc to prevent rust.

Thanks for the info on the rotor weights! I am really more interested in reducing the "Unsprung" wheel weight for better handling than trying to shave a couple of pounds off the car itself. Which is the main reason I was looking at the 2-pc. Yes I do want something that looks trick, but I want function too. I just need to decided on if I want to spend and extra $300-$500 to lose 2 lbs/ per wheel.

I see so far that Sport Brakes by Brembo and Baer rotors are very good choices. And haven't heard of any not to buy. But I am not seeing anything on brake pads!!! Who is using what? Maybe I should start a new thread just on brake pads.

Which company was it that was using Porsche rotors on a custom hub for the C5? As I recall it was pretty economical for a 2-piece rotor, plus Porsche rotors have the vent holes CAST in instead of drilled... I'd go that route now if I weren't going to wait until I upgrade to bigger wheels.
