Default Models and Options?

Hi guys. I have always lusted over owning a Vette, and I am just now starting my research to purchase a 01-03 model in the next six months. Since I have never owned one, I don't know very much about them (just that I want one BAD!) My problem is knowing what options were available on the Vette for those model years.

Is there a website or book available that actually lists all the options for each model year?

Also, as far as models, I understand there is the coupe, vert, and ZO6. In some of the classifieds on the net I have seen hatchback mentioned. Are they referring to the coupe?

Any help you guys can throw my way will be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to joining the club in a few months.

Thanks,
Larry

There weren't many options available on a Z06, only seat memory, EC mirrors, & BSMs I suppose. Makes it pretty easy when shopping for a Z, you just need to decide what color you want. Oh that reminds me of the Mod Red option on the interior also .

And yes, someone talking about a hatchback is talking about a coupe, which is also a Targa.

To further confuse you, there are FRCs(fixed roof coupes), which is a Z06 body style, which came out before the Z06 .

The FRC's that B R is speaking of were only produced in 1999 and 2000.
Personally I would recommend that if you have a Z06 in your sights, and you have a choice, that you stay away from the 01's as there were a number of them that had oil usage issues, unless that is, you know the source/history of the vehicle and feel comfortable. Some folks had them addressed under a factory recommended re-ring prodedure and some may not have. Possibly some of the other 2001 models may have this issue too. Bottom line is that if you're considering an '01, keep this in mind. Not knocking all 01's here, it's just that it seems as though this year was the year that had a lot of controversy on this subject. From what I hear, most everyone who had them re-ringed with the new design piston rings had the problem solved.
From 2002 on up you're in pretty safe territory on this matter. HTH

KernelDee,,,,,thanks for the info about the black book. Looks like just what I was looking for.

Also, thanks LoneStar for the tips on the 01's. Definitely good to know that. Not really looking for a ZO6, unless one comes along with a price too good to refuse.
