Default C-5 Air Conditioning Problems

I have a 2000 Roadster with the dual climate control package. Just this week, I noticed that the inside of the car was warmer than usual with the top and windows up. The air was blowing cold as usual on my side, but when I put my hand over the 2 passenger side vents, they are blowing full heat.

Some particulars... The termostat was set at 72 outside air was 95 degrees. The passenger setting was normal stright up. I did go to the dealership to see if they had ever heard of the problem, of course the answer was all the time, it could be the... or the ... or the... yup you guessed it, a witch hunt on my dollars.

Has anypone experienced this, and what is the fix? Appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Bob

Same thing happened to me and I added some freon. Works fine now; temp get down to 40-45 degrees at the vents.

Sometimes with the dual zone A/C controls the damper motors need to be "recalibrated".

With the car running: pull, wait a few minutes, then reinstall fuses #18 & 27 in the passenger floorboard, the motors should reset when power is reapplied if that's the problem.

Let us know how it turns out

Had the same type problem in a 99 Cadillac with split controls. A shot of freon solved the problem.

Ok, thanks for you help... I have done the fuses and tapped the relays.... When I plugged them in I did hear the whirring of the motors and vents moving, but to no avail..... Still hot air... Next step is to add some freon. Is this simple or should I get someone to do it who is qualified?

I get ok/cold air but the direction does not change from floor to vent to window, and the volume is low, yet the fan sounds like it is running well. I have connected a guage and measured low side pressures at 50. the temp out side and in the engine compartment were in the high 90s. The compressor turns off when I accelerate even light moderate. I read this is supposed to happen. I do not just want to shoot more refrigerant in it due to the preassure being high already. How can I discharge some out to be able to add more? Can I just relieve some from the high side needle valve?

Interesting. Mine started doing the same thing three days ago, except that the passenger side is cold and the driver's side is warm.

Mine decides on ocassions to not blow any cold air at all. Then all of the sudden it will start blowing cold air. When I put the control on ac and inside circ for max cool, the ac button starts blinking and no matter how many buttons I push or temperature changes I make it still blows hot air. It's the blinking light on the ac button that has me baffled cause when I push it while it's blinking, it doesn't shut off or on. I just turn the whole system off and hope when I turn it back on, it will work. It's an automatic system and I never checked the passenger side to see what it was blowing. I was more interested in my side blowing some cold air.

You know, for a very expensive flagship of the great America sportscar, these cars certainly have enough problems. Cha-ching, cha-ching!

Default 2003 HVAC problem

My 2003 coupe climate control has been doing much of the other posts. Sometimes no cool air on driver's side. One time blowing hot air when temp set to 72 deg, with 80 deg outside air. The passenger side was blowing cool air.
I also notice the A/C light blinking, which can not be shut off. The A/C does not shut off, occasionally, even if the set point temperature is raised to 78, with outside air at 60 deg.

Still have about 6 months on warranty, so I guess it's a trip to the shop. Other than that, just lovin' this fine machine!

Sounds to me like low freon. Those can's sometimes work...but i would highly reccomend taking it into a shop they'll vaccuum out all the current freon, and test to see if there's a leak, then when they re-charge it, they'll help find the leak, with their sniff test thing.

My compressor went bad at about 87,000 miles.

I had the same problem. Scan your DIC Codes starting at the subcategory 99-HVAC.

In my case I found (B0441 Left Actuator Out of Range) and (B0446 Right Actuator Out of Range), which meant both actuators were out. I replaced them and everything was fine.

I first bought the service manuals for the 98 corvette. Removing the console, dashboard, glovebox, and guages were very easy. But, the manuals did not show the actuator for the right side for a manual transmission. I removed the airbag (very easy) and there is was. The whole thing (start to finish) took less than 2 hours

Everything works fine now.
