Default Windshield wipers gone wild.

Title says it all. Start the vette to go on a afternoon cruise. The wipers start up and are going like crazy. At first I thought that I hit the control lever with my knee. Not so. It was in the off position. I calmly try to shut off the wipers. Tried for about 2 minutes, but they are still going strong.
I pushed the button for the spray hoping that maybe that would help. Well that made things even worse. The little button that you push for water to spray on the window. Well it popped out, along with the little spring or springs, Now the water is squirting on the window like made and the only way to shut any of the off, is to turn the engine off. I'm open for suggestions. I can't drive the car with the wipers running all the time. I could pull the fuse. Then I wouldn't have any wipers. Has anybody run into the problem yet?

Sounds like to me your vette is trying to say it needs washed. Now being truthful I have read alot of posts about that and they say it's the wiper motor. It has an electronic board on the bottom of the wiper motor that goes bad. Mine is also bad because it only works on high and doesn't turn off like ist supposed to. Other members say it costs around 40 to 60 bucks.

Its your wipermotor...the board sits in water and gets damaged. It's not bad to change, but i remembe rpaying a good bit more than 60 bucks for my motor.

I found the both springs and replaced them in the little holes in the stem, and over the little post on the button that you push for the water to squirt. Made sure the button snapped into place. That took care of the problem. The little dividers on the inside of the button will divide the connectors. When the button is pushed for water. (There are two sets of connectors, one for the wipers and one for the sprayer). It allows the connectors to touch and turns the wipers and the sprayer on. I hardly ever drive the car in the rain. So I didn't think it was worn out. Thinking back now, I remember the the wipers started first. Then the button fell out and then the sprayer started. Everthing is all snapped back and ready to go. Thanks to everyone who helped me solve this problem. This forum is the best.

Im having the EXACT same problem right now... wipers only working on high. Really pissing me off. It started one day when it rained hard. I cleaned mud out of the drain cowls and have waited 1.5 months for the board to dry off but now its looking like im gona have to replace the board. The only problem is that my wipers are STUCK to the screw and I can't remove them to get access to the wiper motor
