Column locking up is a scary feeling!
Happened to me yesterday while sitting in a grocery store parking lot. I didn't even notice the DIC because I'm so used to not having any problems. I waited about 20 minutes and it freed it's self. 
I called the dealer during that 20 minute wait period and he stated that unfortunately there was nothing they could do. I would have to get it towed in and they would have to replace a solenoid. I told the guy that I had the recall done earlier this year, but it didn't matter.
Anyone have a CLB for sale?

Go to the C5 tech section on top of the page. There are about 10 pages of comments. GM is very very cheap about fixing this problem under recall. I will continue to buy the vettes but have switched to Hondas and other non-GM vehicles due to their lack of cooperation on repairing these problems with column lock and wait ten seconds pull key issues.
