Got the same thing awhile back, and also today after disconnecting the battery. Are you using a single indash CD player or a 12 disk changer like myself? All I did was oper the changer, took out the carrier put it back in and it started working again. For a single indash player I'm really not sure.

anybody wanna by an alpine 6 disc changer...CD and MP3's
But not a desirable mod on Bose tuner...
Our 2004 convertible has the factory 12-disc changer in the rear. We drove to Myrtle Beach, SC on our vacation in July. All the way down and while at the beach, the changer worked perfectly. On our way back home, it wasn't working and we kept getting the "error" message. At the first gas stop, I decided to remove the items we had packed in the CD changer compartment. I then jiggled the wiring harness under the changer and tried it again. IT WORKED!! I thought maybe the harness had been moved by those things packed around it. Apparently so because it has worked perfectly ever since. It's worth a try.
I have a 12 stacker cd in the trunk of my 00 vert and it does the same thing. I took the unit out and took it apart. I cleaned everything even though it wasn't exactly dirty and put it all back together again. Same problem! ERR
I think my unit is defective. You can buy a brand new replacement unit but I listen to the radio now for what it's worth.
[QUOTE=HD_Rider]Your not using computer-burned CDs, are you? If so, try an "OEM" cd. Some CD-R media doesn't burn as 'cleanly' as name-brand media
I had the same problem. I have a bunch of the noname media. I had to slow the speed. Some of the cds work fine while others did'nt play too good. They work fine in my other vehicles. I'm going to try the name brand.

I was listenig to mine yesterday. It started to take awhile on random to select and play the discs and then stopped and I got the dreaded error code! I was going to ask the same question when i saw this thread.
Is there a quick fix to this, or is it a major repair or replacement job?
If your CDs are in correctly, and they are recorded correctly, you should be able to correct it quickly.
First, make sure your sound system is OFF
Slide the door to the carrier, and pop out the carrier. Check it, then re-insert it and close the door. You should hear the changer click through all the CDs. Wait until it is done, then turn on your system, and it should have cleared.
Will the In-Dash Single CD player work if the "Changer" is out of service(ie, missing the cartridge)?? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I found this little surprise when I brought the car home! Still love it though and I could really care less, it's the CAR I wanted.
I'm getting the "ERR" message also, but I've already been looking at aftermarket head units just in case I'm screwed on the factory unit!!
