Had the opportunity today to test drive a new C-6 Coupe (400 horses) and to tell you the truth I didn't detect any appreciable difference in my C-5 coupe automatic over the C-6 automatic.
On a straight-away, I floored the C-6 and yes it took off like a rocket, but so does my C-5.
On my C-5 I've upgraded to the Magnaflow exhaust and the Halltech Stinger air filter and bridge and I was wondering if these mods compare with the C-6 performance?
My estimate is that the Stinger combined with the MAgnaflow give you an extra 25-30 horses.... so the comparison is ~375 vs 400.
20 horses over the weight difference especially if you don't know the difference in gearing is too close to call when using the seat of your pants....
I had an 01 C5 (mn6) with Vortex and Stingers. It seemed just about as fast as my C6 Z51 (also 6 spd) even though it wasn't. The biggest difference you will see is in poise, handling and braking performance. In these areas, the C6 kicks the C5's butt. In straight line acceleration I find it only to seem only marginally faster.
The level of quietness (very little wind or road noise), refinement and driveability that the C6 has considering its performance capability is just awesome.
