I just thought I would step in and say hi. Finally got my first Vette after waiting years ... I've been dreaming about owning one since I was as little as 10 and had my matchbox vette. Let's just say my current age starts with a three and ends with a number higher than 6.
I made the leap a couple months ago after finding a pre-owned 97 that I just couldn't pass up. And I have to admit, I never thought it would be like it has been, owning your own Corvette has been the biggest highlight, thrill and reward I've had in a very long time.
But I really wanted to say thanks to the very many posts here. You all have really helped me understand more then I even thought existed. And was an incredible help in trying to determine what "Service Column Lock" meant the other night as I had to watch my new car being towed out of downtown to the dealer. It's an automatic so I am doing the recall (trust me I tried every trick possible to get it working again, specially after reading the ongoing posts here).
You all are great and I look forward to reading more and maybe ... tossing in my humor ... hey, I had an audience watching the Vette being loaded on the trailer yesterday so you got to have a bit of humor now and then ... after something like that.

Congrats Carl! Sorry to hear about the common lock..
I finally got her back today from the dealer and that *#$& column lock. I think the dealer was glad to get rid of me, it did take them three days to fix (order parts, something, something...) and I couldn't help but call each day to find out if she was ready yet. They did a great job and treated her very well but three days was a little longer than I'd hoped. Heck they could take any of my other cars and keep them weeks but not my Vette.
Now, as for that wave thing. Most of my family are Harley riders except me, I know they have a wave thing going on but since I don't ride, I'd never experienced it. But it wasn't until my first small road trip in the Vette last month, along the Oregon coast, did I come to understand what a group of people I have fallen into. I was blown away by the wave as I would pass another Corvette driver, I'd heard nothing of the Vette wave. And to have another Vette go by with them giving you the wave was a pretty good feeling.
And pictures...yes, getting those. Just a couple in the driveway so far, I just can't seem to stop driving her long enough to take a picture. But I'm on it and will get some posted soon.
And, a warm welcome to you, my friend. It is certainly a thrill to own such an amazing vehicle. And, we are all pleased to have you aboard. It will be a pleasure to hear about all your new and up and coming Corvette C5 adventures. Carl, please keep us posted. And, do send us a few pics of your new beast. Basically, we just absolutely love Corvette eye candy around here. Glad you could join us. Enjoy.
