SNAKE. re: your edit, my GUESS is that if the tailpipe deposits are not oily that it would just be normal exhaust deposits. Someone with more knowledge may have better input for you........

Yeah, Greg is great to deal with, really nice in person too.
I ordered a set of his rear side markers. I thought that the mirrored ones might look good with chrome rims...well, it looked a little too bling! My wife asked me if we were moving to the ghetto with that look!
Well, I thought I was going to just eat the cost and chalk it up to experience. Greg emailed me the directions and told him about my problem. Well, he just asked what color I wanted and he would exchange them at no charge (I gave him some $$ to cover the shipping...least I could do). He is sending the silver ones to match the car, so they blend in. Great guy!!!
He is also a great source for the trunk mirrors (verts and FRCs) and blackout kits, as well as his unique side marker lights.
