I took my car to the dealer to find out I had a bad spark plug wire. Ok, no problem, took it off and replaced it with one of my original wires I had, car runs fine. Now what do I do about the wire I removed, which might I add were MSD 8.5 mm wires. Well they have been one the car about 7 months, 8,000 miles, which is well within warranty. So, I called LAPD, told them my sob story, and they say the wires are on back order and to call back in a week. I call them today, and now they want me to mail the whole wire set to them before they send a new set. Ok, normaly that would be fine, but this is my daily driver. They wouldnt budge!! No, new set until they recieve the old set. How lame is that? I spent nearly $1,000 in parts on that same ticket, and they are worried about $80, they would lose if I didnt send them back. Anyhow, long story short, I called the MSD customer support, and they hooked me up. Thanks MSD!!!
Like the title says, GOOD~BYE LAPD!! I wont give them anymore of my money, just to get a faulty part, and worse lousy service.
I am sorry to hear that this may have fallen through the cracks. I have been in and out of the office due to a personal family issue so I have not been present to take care of matters like this. The rest of the staff goes by the manufacturer's policy on warranty issues which states that they will replace the item when the defective item is returned to them.
What we usually do is replace the wires and hope that we get the defective wires back, but most of the time, we never receive the wires back and I guess the person you spoke with when you called went by the manufacturer's policy rather than our policy.
Again, I apologize for this and just wanted to address it and re-assure you that this is not our standard operating procedure.

I have bought from LAPD a bunch of times and usually email Shawn before I order something. I get an excellent service everytime! I have never had any complaints and will continue to do business with LAPD
It's sad when a company won't stand behinfd an 80.00 item. Sounds like a mix up but it's good to see this info out there will make me think about buying anything from them. The proper thing to do would have been to at least send you a gift certificate for your trouble. This would have saved some bad press

I guess you didn't see the response by LAPD. Maybe you should read it before making your comment.
I have ordered numerous items from LAPD with no trouble at all. They are a great vendor and will continue to order from them.

LAPD's done fine by me.
R & D, I understand your frustration but one misunderstanding shouldn't condemn a vendor here. These things have a way of steam rolling out of control. If you owned a business and needed parts returned to get credit for them you might see it differently.
When I changed out my stock wires for the MSD's I kept the stock wires handy for spares.
Right on to both of you. I am glad this worked out because I hate MSD. I have two of their crappy ignitions that I'll give to any Ford guy free and I'll pay for shipping. Right ON
I have to say I've dealt with a ton of aftermarket vendors in my time. Have ordered stuff for a ton of cars I've worked on for people and for my own cars. LAPD has been nothing but awesome to me and their email/IM response time is unheard of in this day and time. This comes from someone who personally works sales everyday and the main reason I buy from LAPD is their reputation and their priority of their customer and no matter their situation small or big. Sometimes the cheapest deal isn't the best deal. LAPD is always good in my book.
