We didn't get our frist vette until I was 47.
Because kids and work the kids collage.
Back in 1978 my uncle had a 78 with the anniversary paint, I thought that was best looking car I had ever seen, so we found one just
like it, bought it, still got it Love it set and look at it alot and think back
to the time i frist saw one...........
The color scheme on the '78 is a head turner for sure. You don't see many of those anymore.
First vette was a '69 350/350 vert. It was in long term storage (7 years) while I was stationed overseas. It's been a long time coming back from the dead, but she's purring pretty good now. It was a present for my wifes birthday (her dream car...she had to have that before I could get a boat) and we've had her for almost 20 years. Just to darn much fun to drive!
I would often dream about my '72 at night. My recurring dream was that I found out where it was and bought it back. In the dream I was amazed at how well preserved it was after many years. I can see that you are living yours. It looks like it is in magnificant shape.
i'm in the late bloomer department. when i was a kid i remember watching a show called T.H.E. CATT which was short for Thomas Hewett Edward Catt who was a detective & who drove a 65 or 66 vette. years & miles later in my mid-40s, while we had 2 kids in college, we snagged an 87 torch red c4 coupe @ carlisle. had it 18 mos & sold it privately & made almost $2k. turned 50 & within a week, at the boss's (the mrs) urging no less, we got a 2000 sebring silver c5. we're loving every minute of it!!!! bub
Once Vettes get in your blood you can't shake them. Of course, whose trying too.
WAS LOOKING 50 IN THE EYE, LAST CHILD ALMOST OUT OF COLLEGE AND MY WIFE SAID WHY NOT! 2000 TORCH RED FRC IN THE GARAGE. FIRST TWO WEEKS I KEPT LOOKING TO SEE IT WAS REALLY THERE. ONE OF THOSE GREAT FEELINGS IN LIFE! CONGRATS AND ENJOY
Like some of the others, I was in my teens and just HAD TO HAVE A VETTE. Finally after a bad driving record and a few years, I could afford a 1976 vette when I was 20. I was on cloud nine. I drove that car hard (even though it was a dog, you couldn't get a better looking car). The lines of the C3 were artwork! Had it about 3 years and had to move on. Two years ago (I'm 41 now) was able to finally get another vette, after driving my wife crazy for the last 15 years . . . a 2000 Torch Red C5. I've always loved to drive fast and took it to my first autocross this past spring and guess what, out of 55 corvettes, I had the 3rd fastest time and 1st place in my division. It was an awesome time and one more coming up in September. I just love these cars! Thanks for sharing the other stories!
When I was 8 my dad had a '57 and belonged to a Corvette club. I used to go on runs with them and as an 8 year old, well you can imagine. I finally got mine at 52 years old.

My Vette experience is almost identical to De Javu's. Got my 1st Vette, a 69 big block in '72. Had it for 25 years and loved that look out over the hood. However, once I got my C5, any thoughts or notions of older Vettes went out the window. This thing is comfortable, powerful, economical, good looking, etc. It's everything an American sports car should be. I've had Vettes for 33 years. I've always loved them, but I really love this one!!! Here's to the C5! Zuti
I remember what a thrill to get my first new'72 coupe at age 27. They weren't much for horsepower but they sure did look good and made me feel good driving it. It was stolen and totally burned after 2.5 years and eventually got a new '77 then a new'79 with the sloping rear window. I still don't know why I didn't keep that '79 but now I own two C5's and love them.I hope I never get tired of them and who knows if I will ever get a C6 in the future; trying to retire early and that means less money to throw away on cars and mods.I'm glad you are enjoying your C5 but I think I was more thrilled to get that very first one, how about you?
