Default Dual Zone question?

When I was driving thru Cali I noticed when I pushed the mode button to put the AC on the upper vents only....the AC blew out of the upper vent slightly but out of the defroster area even more. Is this normal?

I know the defrost uses the AC but I thought when you put it on upper only it cut off the defroster vents????

Thanks guys.

Two possible explanations. One, operator error, make sure the "picture" in the display matches what you think. In some light conditions it seems as if the General's display wash out a bit.
Assuming that's less likely, it may be that the acuator that opens and shuts the various doors in the HVAC got stuck/ is sticking partly open. If your ever back behind the dash, the defrost vents are simply closer to the blower source. If the door that directs air up there doesn't completely close, it will simply divert a large portion of the available air up there in that those vents are well before the dash vents.
