Default Looking for a 97or98.

I have been reading most of the forums on C5's. Any special topic I should really be looking at? Also I thought I read somewhere that there are two gas tanks on C5's is that true? Going to Carlisle next week for my search.

Thanks

Just one gas tank on my 98

They say that 98s are usually good model years.

All C5's have a split tank (one on the right side, one on the left connected by a crossover pipe. If you look under the car, they are located behind the aluminum shielding next to where the tranny sits. Get yourself a resource like the Corvette Black Book and see what options were available for those two model years. And, if you find a car you like, make sure you get it thoroughly checked out by a competent mechanic. If you can possibly afford it, you may want to consider a '99 since you would have the additional options of a HUD (head up display) and active handling. Good luck on your search.

All C5s have split fuel tanks. The fuel system was totally revised during late model year 2003 to meet future LEV 2 emission requirements, but still retained the split tanks. I don't have pics and description handy for the older fuel system, but the split tanks were similar in looks to those in the new system below. You can also read about all the changes that were made for the new system in the link below. Hope this helps.
