not sure if this is a post for c5s for sale or somewhere else but i figured this could be fair game. anybody with experience with carmax and what they give you compared to kelly/edmund values? i've heard mixed reviews, some say they give the high range, others say the low range. there's a good chance im going to asia soon to trade the markets there so my baby c5 will be going. i realize i could put it up for private sale but in the essence of time i might be forced to take a lower price and just get the thing done. i like the fact that i can just sell the car to them straight up with no strings attached. opinions? thanks. appreciate the help.
I've bought and sold cars with them over the years, I find that they will offer a reasonable price and take the car off your hands quickly. You may not get the same $ as if you sold to an individual but if you want to sell the car quickly they are a good alternative.
I sold a car to them last year and was actually paid substantially more than Kelly's Blue Book. It was fast and smooth. Since then, several other friends have done the same. Good luck on your move.
thanks guys. not sure if the move is 100% definite yet, but if it is, im sure going to miss driving. 100% auto tax over there. a camry in hong kong costs about the same as a c5 coupe new.
I've sold Carmax 4 vehicles and I agree with the posts above. They always seem to give a better price than dealers. The only downside is it makes it easier to be a car buying addict because it's so easy to liquidate the old car.
