C5 wheels...on a C4?

Bigger question: Exlcuding ZR1, GS, and B2K, is the C4 the red-headed stepchild of Corvettes?

u dog our cars (red headed stepchild?) and then wonder why we have maybe a little hostility? u think ur car is SO superior in EVERY single way, and really its not about that at all. a corvette is a corvette is a corvette etc, etc, etc....its supposed to be a brotherhood of car enthusiasts enjoying their favorite version of america's sports car. not a contest to see who can drop $50k on a car and who cant. now this is just my opinion, but i feel like c5 guys are more worried about being seen in their corvette instead of enjoying being an auto enthusiast. and that is c5 guys in general. not just exclusively the ppl on this forum, cuz most on here are do it yourselfers. but in general the c5 is a status symbol. u maybe should stop looking down your nose at other generations. you made your choice of cars and i made mine. it was the one that set my heart on fire. it put a smile on my face. im sure yours did and does the same for you. im very happy for you. now i wish you could be happy for me as well.
save the wave, dude. especially for those of other generations.

Many of us have. They were pioneering cars, ahead of their time. I'd stil put my '95 Z07 (you forgot to mention that option in your post) up against 90% of the cars on the road today and win.

I see way too much cross generation bashing. Save it for the other cars. Many of us came from C4's and still respect that generation. It's about the Corvette in general, not about any one generation. Without the C4 (and all previous generations) there wouldn't even be a C5.

I couldn't agree more, if I still had the '89 you better believe I'd be driving it. It had a better sport seat for my tastes and really liked the driving position. The C5 aside from the power is quite better with creature comfort and interior usable space. C4 is a vette and a damn nice one at that............
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

The C4 was a ground breaking car when it was introduced. Loved my 85 except for the automatic trans.
I say we should save the bashing for lesser cars than the Vette.
. I cut my teeth on a 57 (C1) and wish I still had it. Dropped a 327 in that baby and no one in South Florida could touch it. Miss that car...........

You said it better than I did.
RUKWKR agrees (
) with Hot Rod 90’s observation and is also, presumably, not a fan on the C5 in any way. Also, Hot Rod 90's profile reads: “Vette lover & admirer all my life -- all gens, except the C5.”
This is but a brief sample of the C5 bashing that goes on over there. There are some vocal people over there with inferiority complexes and they compensate for it by saying absurd things. Usually I let it roll off my back, but I thought I would mention it yesterday. A guy with a '90 is "not a fan of the C5 in any way"?? That is absurd. Period. Unless you are a Corvette guy who isn’t interested in performance??? I guess it's possible.
There is a guy over in C4 gen who owns a couple LT1 Corvettes. This guy is a moderator, also. Apparently, his stock LT1 is the fastest Corvette EVER! He has never lost to an LS1 or LS6. Not sure where he stands on the LT5 since that was in a C4. But, put an LS7 in a C5 body and I guarantee that he would beat it with his stock LT1. He has not lost and will never lose to a C5. The guy is apparently one hell of a driver, but….c’mon.
I am a religious waver. The C4's around here don't seem to know about the wave. I get greater than 50% waves from C5 & C6’s. With a C4 it's about 20%. I think it's because of how cheap it is to purchase a C4. Many people are "stepping up" from their '88 IROCs into 1990 Corvettes because of the price. Many aren’t Corvette enthusiasts. If they become one, however, you will surely see them soon in C4 gen bashing the C5.
For me, Corvette is about performance. In the mid 80's the Corvette, Fox-body Mustang, and GN battled it out for muscle car supremacy and you must respect them for what they were at the time. Those mid 80's cars were big steps in the right direction after a decade + of government regulations that killed performance. Compared to today's cars, however, well, they don't compare. 250 HP was impressive in 1987. Today, minivans and compacts have that kind of power. I appreciate what the C4 was in the day, and for it's place in the history of the car I love, but it simply can't compete compared to newer cars. If you like it, cool. I like it, too. But leave it at that. To confuse it as a better vehicle when it is obviously not is intellectually dishonest.
One day very soon my C5 Z06 will become obsolete, too. If I'm lucky and things work out, I might work towards buying that new, better car. But if I don't, I'm not going to absurdly sit and pretend that my car is better in some immeasurable ways that can only be quantified in my head.
In conclusion, it seems the C4 folks are some sort of protected group who can badmouth other generations with impunity, but if someone says anything less then glowing about a C4 then that person is not a true "Corvette enthusiast". I'm calling
I'll still wave, though.
Rant over.
Time to head for the water

All years are great. I'll keep my C3 forever but I love my C5 too. I just hope to continue to add to my collection!
