we bought our 1st corvette @ carlisle a few years ago (torch red c4). be prepared to encounter more corvettes than you have ever seen in your life. prices will drop as the show progresses. we bought our car on sunday afternoon around 2p just before the show ended (of course there is lower selection then). the dealer just didn't want to take the car back to philadelphia & gave us a tremendous price. when we sold that car about 18 mos later, we made circa $2k. go prepared to buy @ carlisle; that means you have a preapproved autoloan & check to write on the spot. cars can be sold very quickly & if you're not ready to buy on the spot, you might miss some great opportunities. it almost goes without saying but buy the newest car with the lowest miles in the best condition that you can afford. again, you are going to be overwhelmed at the sheer # of vettes there. there was no thrill in the world quite equal to driving our 1st vette home from the carlisle show. bub
I have a bone stock '98 and have had no problems with it. Just remember that the 97&98's have the dreaded "wagon wheels" (I still have mine on, for now...) There's a sticky at the top of the forum which breaks down the years and what's available. By limiting yourself to those two years, you won't be able to get HUD and a few other things (adj. suspension?) Find a low mileage garage queen like I did, and drive the hell out of it!

My 98 has adjustable suspension (Z51 package). But i agree, get lowest miles, then newest year possible.
