The owner of Ecklers is selling his, I saw it out front yesterday. Looked sharp. It has Z06 wheels and the rear vents of a Z. I don't know too much more about it. He got a new one.
Just curious I saw a Torch Red 98' C5 Coupe the other day for $18,5. had about 76K on the clock. It looked in excellent shape.
Is that the right ball park pricing? Good or bad deal roughly?
What are the major things to look for with that year model?
Thanks in advance.
Sounds reasonable, but why not offer less? That way you cannot lose. I am no expert on these earlier C5s, but I would think most of the quirks (column lock, headlight gears, etc.) may have been dealt with and corrected by now. Having said that, a car with 76K will probably have regular maintenance issues arise, like tires, shocks, brakes, clutch, that sort of stuff. Some of those issues may have been done already. Maintenance records would be a plus...
If I'm not mistaken, that may be a bit high for FL. But we'll let some of our Florida Buds better answer your question.
Either way, best of luck in your purchase
Sounds fair to me as long as it's in real good condition. I picked up my 1997 Z51 coupe (all options available) with 42k on the clock for $22,000 last nov. As of now its got 57k on the clock and It's never looked better, I would not list mine for less than $21,000.....
Does it need any maintenance (tire, clutch, brakes, etc)? IMHO with the mileage, it would need to be clean and not need any work for the price.
You could see the 18.5 quickly become 22k real fast.
Good luck!
I know I should have asked more questions when I was there saturday. I was kind of in a hurry to get back home to get my baby back up and running. Hmmm the tires looked new. I guess I was just curious from the C5 folks if this was the right ball park. It really caught my eye, the paint was near perfect to perfect. From what I could see of the interior it looked in great shape.
Yeah when I got my C4, within the first couple months I learned the value of Corvette maintenance, I had become complacent previously with new cars and warranties
With that mileage I'd expect to be on the edge of some maintenance.
