My trunk is not popping fully when opening it. I remember reading a while back that an assist spring can be added to provide additional opening. I did a search with no luck. Does anyone know the size, type spring that needs to be put onto the hydraulic shocks?
Thanks
Chris
First off, take some WD40 (or similar) and spray the hinges and the latch. That fixed mine. Or if you are getting out, pop the lid BEFORE you shut the door; the air pressure inside will pop it open.
My buddy invented this, it helps to a point as does all the other home made remedies folks will offer.
He bought a big fat spring from Home Depot. You'll notice all the over spray from the WD-40. Nothing seemed to help me. The spring mod is about a 30% solution.

Mine's an 03 and lid stopped popping up. I used silicone spray on the latch and latch hook and it cured it. It now pops about 1.5" when I release it with the fob from outside the car.
I would use a helper spring as a LAST-RESORT. My '04 Z's lid started sticking a few months after I got the car. Some Teflon spray and WD-40 on the latch assembly would cure it only temporarily. Eventually I tried some good old-fashioned white lithium grease I had in a spray can. It's been fine now for over a year...
The trunk on my '01 has never "popped" up more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch. It is just enough to get my fingers under it to raise it. There are two stops at the back corners of the trunk frame. Adjusting the height of those stops adjusts the pressure applied to "pop" the deck lid open. Raising the stops too high is bad because the rear edge of the trunk lid will be raised high enough to look funny and, can allow air and water leaks through the seal at the rear edge of the trunk.

Worked for me too... I tried the others below (no spring) but WD40 cured it.
