Default Flip up lights

I know this is more like a general topic, but I figured since the C5 is the last gen to have flip up headlamps, that it is only fitting to discuss it here. It probably have been discussed before, I wouldn't know really because I did not do a search but anyway. If GM were to actually ask Corvette owners on what the C7 should have ( I know it is far in the future, but just in case)- would you say bring back the flip-up headlamps or keep the fixed headlamps?

I'd say keep the fixed lights. No one uses them anymore keep with the times. At first I didn't like them at all, but it has really grown on me and I like the fixed lights.

I think I'd like to have a less conspicuous version of the "fixed"

I like the fixed just because it looks different and new. But i think the c7's should have pop up lights with HID's.

I said the fixed, but here is why: I've had my 98 less than a year, and its my first vette and have had no problems with them at all, but I did have an 83 Firebird and after 3 years, the vaccum activated flip ups started acting up and not working, I had to manually crank the left one up every time I needed the headlights. I saw a midyear on Sunday at my club's autoX and its lamps were up, owner said he was having issues with them and that it was easrier just to keep them open.

While I do like the look of the lamps when closed, the problems that oocur and the hassles you have to go through, in my opinion, are not worth it, WHEN you place the fixed in the design context of the C6, as opposed to the design of the C1.

I like them both and could live with it either way. However, the flip-ups seem to belong on the Vette.

From My understanding many people wanted HID headlights and they cannot be used with pop-up so that is why the are now fixed. Then you have many other people that wanted weight reduction a fixed headlilght(not sure about HID's) are lighter than pop-ups. Then you have the people that say they still want the pop-ups.

Well as the saying goes "you can't please all the people all the time".

Plus this topic had been try a search and you will see

Hey zilla HID's over stock bulbs is about a pound and a half difference due to the ballast weight. Not sure that is really going to help on weight reduction. LOL

Well my wife sums it up this way...." If I can't look up and see the sun and it doesn't have a manual transmission and if the headlights don't flip up YOU can't buy it!"

So until she changes her mind on flip up headlights I won't be buying a C6.....hmmm ... it strikes me she didn't say anything about a lease....

Not surprised at the poll results so far. Seeing that this is C5 general. I voted for pop-ups. The main reason why I bought a C5 was because the C6 was going pop-up less. I truely think ALL Vettes should have pop-ups.
