Removing auto's shift ****

I've been attempting to do a HUD installation, but can't get the auto shifter's **** off. I saw a bunch of posts on the mn6, but nothing for the autos. Any know a link?

There is a horseshoe shaped pin on the front side of the shifter that needs to be removed.

Check this link out from Vette Essentials which shows you how to remove the shifter(step 4a)

Why would you need to remove the know in an auto? The boot and **** should be able to remain to remove the console.
