Default help with rim weights

currently I have the wagon wheels , and the opportunity has presented itself for me to purchase Mikes rims, 5 spoke.

would anyone know if the spoke rims are lighter than the wagon wheels?

its a given they are better looking.
but im curious as to weight.

any help will be appreciated.

mike if you read this i'll let you know something tonight via pm's, and thank you for giving me first crack at them

much appreciated.

I just switched out to mags and my 1999 chrome wagon wheels were 19.5lbs for both fronts and 21.5 for both rears. I weighed each one and they came out to those weight on my bathroom scale. My mags weighed 17.5 each for the fronts and 19.5 each for the rears. Just an FYI, the 2 lbs that I lost from each wheel is VERY noticeable so it's highly desireable to lose weight in those areas.

Additionally, the sticky notes should be updated with true and correct rim weights on an average.

this does contribute to performance. Albeit a slight difference.

Are you serious? What did you feel was the difference? Did you put different tires on at the same time?? 4 lbs per set of wheels make a significant difference?? WOW...

Got some data to back that up? Now you've made me curious... skeptical but curious...

I'm not doubting what you're saying since I have no first hand knowledge yet, but 2 pounds in each corner makes THAT much of a difference?

The two pounds that were lost were unsprung so I think that's what made the big difference. I drive my car 40 miles 5 days a week so I get lots of road time to see how the car handles. I feel the wheels recover faster and regain contact with the road when I hit small bumps. I feel more in control in these situations. The acceleration is still pretty much the same but it just "feels" more responsive from a dig. I just swapped the old tires off my wagon wheels on to the new mags too, so no extra weight added or lost there. While I agree that two lbs lost elsewhere would probably not even be noticed, at the wheels they feel wonderful. I love the mags

Be very careful of rotating mass, such as rims, tires, rotors, shafts, etc.

For every 1 lbs. of rotating mass, it effects your car similar to 4 lbs. of static weight.

So even something nominal like 10 lbs. off your rims total, can have a noticable difference.
