That's a cap?? I've ALWAYS simply turned that what is pictured... it has the flats around the outside to aid in grabbing it... It turns very easily but it takes a few to get the headlights up and back down.

Yes, take rubber cap off, it keeps dirt and water from gunking it up, then twist the **** to raise and lower headlight. I use it just to raise, then turn on then off the headlights to lower.

Do not turn on and off lights to lower after manually raising the headlights
It is not good for the motors and you can hear that when it happens. The tech told me if they are manually raised then they must be manually lowered
