Very nice - you can fix those color balance issues in an image editor, like this:
Actually, in this case I like the old-fashion patina the first images have.
OR
Use a good photo editor again, and give it a Sepia tone, making it really old fashioned looking!
Either way, beautiful picture, and way to take advantage of a opportunity!
Oh, BTW, you wouldn't have been able to do much with your digital camera as far as lightening it up unless you had an add-on flash for it. You did just fine given the equipment! That's where photoshop comes in!
