Can i get some input on the best driving schools within reasonable driving distances of Ca? Several of us have been are planning on taking a course, but with so many out there it's hard to choose. I put forum member's opinions over editorials posted on the net. thanks!
Its not in California, but its not that far away. I HIGHLY recommend Spring Mountain Advanced Driving School in Pahrump, NV. I took the 3 day course and couldn't believe how much I learned and applied in such a short time. First class operation.

Spring Mountain is the place to go, good people. www.springmountainmotorsports.com
Talk to Janet Curran she'll answer all your questions and get you set up.
If you are up in northern California you gotta check out the drving school at Sears Point Raceway. Infinion is the tracks new name. They got RT10s in the advance corse. They also have a few racing schools there to. I wish I could remember the names, but it's late and i'm tired. Check out their website.

The Skip Barber school runs Vipers and it's located at Laguna Seca. The Jim Russell school is located at Sears Point. If you want to drive vettes the two best known are Spring Mountain and the Bonduraunt shool in Phoenix. I'd recommend Spring Mountain; I went there in 2003 when it was Bragg-Smith. Call Trasi at the school for details and Level 1 class openings.
The West Coast is crammed with schools... I would say that if you want to be a racing driver, go to Skip Barber, Russell (My Alma Mater) or Bondo... If you want to learn how to drive a Corvette go to Spring Mountain. You can drive and gamble... It's a good thing!
We will be out West eventually with Johnny O'Connell's Corvette Camp, we're waiting to see the 2006 ALMS schedule to book time at Laguna and/or Sears Point. I have a question that Johnny and I were discussing the other night... Would you run a "Camp" the day after an ALMS race? In other words, would you run on Monday or is this too time consuming to have a four day weekend?
Thanks,
Rick Swarts
Johnny O'Connell's Corvette Camp Johnny O's
i would definitely take a four day weekend to take your couse.
Of the classes you mentioned above, do any of those allow you to use your own car? I personally don't have much interest driving a car not my own - my main purpose would be learning the limits of my own car, which are below that of a Z06. Thanks for the info!

To the best of my knowledge, the schools mentioned above do not allow you to use your car. An exception might be Spring Mountain. This seems to be one advantage of Johnny O'Connell's Corvette Camp if you want to learn in your own Corvette!
