Default Headlight doesn't always go up!

Sometimes when I turn on my headlights (03' C5), the driver's side will not go up. I have to turn the lights on and off (sometimes more then once) to get both lights to come up together. It's always the drivers side, and happens only occasionally. Any Ideas on what's causing this?

No, but when you find out let me know. My passenger cover is the one on mine that's giving me trouble.

Im having the exact same problem. My drivers side headlight sometimes will not open when I need it. Its happened maybe 4 times. A very recent occurance. One in every last 12 times or so. At first I thought I would need to take it in to get the Dealer servicers to look at it, but then it wouldnt occur again for a week.

Ive lost hope that it was a freak occurance, that it will FIX itself...I need to fix the problem. I dont want to get pulled over for one headlight on one random night where it doesnt want to open.

Im guessing its part of a larger electrical gremlin Ive experienced since I first bought my used '97 in April.

Otherwise, the car is great! Just every now and again, it freaks out on an electrical level and lights up warning lights that scare me. They like to turn themselves off and on at random it seems. I hope they are just electrical in nature rather than signs that the entire car is going crazy.

Good luck! If anyone has advice along these lines, Im checking back on this thread.

Thanks buds! And good luck to our buddies on the New Orleans area tonight. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

not sure but my passenger side light is acting up, I opened the hood and watched it, saw the motor spinning, and it tries to move but will not go up all the way...closes fine though

my guess is the gear in the motor assembly, saw this info yesterday may help if thta is same problem you have

According to c4c5 specialist, it could possibly be a sticking actuator inside the actuator control box, or the actuator itself. He also states correct diagnosis is critical, as both parts are expensive! Of course, when I take it to the dealer I won't be able to duplicate the problem, since it's a very intermittent occurance.
