Where do you find a set of Vette tires for $850? ...unless they are non-runflats...
I recently bought the Kumho Ecsta ASX from tire rack. $540 shipped to me. I don't race or do track but these are a huge upgrade over the GY. They are so much smoother and quieter and should last a long time. I bought a flat kit from tire rack just in case.
when its time (few months) i will be purchasing a set (4) of BFgoodrich g-force KDW-2. they look great! my friend steve (fixedroof) have been running these tires for a while now. he is very pleased. beats the crap out of them, and still showing no signs of tread wear.
check them out, they have a great tread rating, supposed to perform well, and also on the cheaper side compared to other tires.
in feb. i went with kumho mx's all around. the rears are already worn out pretty bad. they were cheap, but i need something that is going to last a little longer!

..I went from my road noise BG Goodrich T/A non-runflats to Kumhos and they are great for the same reasons stated above.
Rsty
Another tire you might check out is the Goodyear GS-D3 non-runflat. I've read many many good reviews on these. My original Goodyear runflats have almost 16,000 on them with the fronts having a little more tread than the rear. I will be going with the GS-D3's before long.
