The best recommendation I can make, is to polish with Mother's Billet, Simichrome, or another aluminum product to remove any water spots... you can even use wet-n-dry 2000 grit sand paper then polish with Mothers polish....
Once the wheel is where you want it...I find that Zaino Z2 polish will protect them for a long time..
When I polish my wheels, I only do two at a time... it is too labor intensive for me, I'm an Old guy.... Polishing one wheel may take me 20 to 30 minutes,... once I finish one of the two wheel, I then apply the Zaino, I let it sit while I'm doing wheel number two... after polishing wheel number two I apply Zaino to it... then I buff off the Zaino on wheel number one... and reinstall it to the car... I allow the Zaino to be absorbed into the surface finish of the second wheel for about 30 minutes then buff it out... I find that this procedure will protect even acid rain. when I get caught in the rain after a Zaino application...I simply wipe the wheel down with some gloss enhancer...

First thing you need to do is dry the wheels at the first opportunity. Don't let the rain water dry on them......... then follow the above suggestions.
ET have you ever seen a rim that was sealed with Zoop? and if so what are your thoughts?
No boat, I have not, although I hear it is a good product. After 20 years of chrome wheels, I was a bit disenchanted with MY CCW's. The method I use now with them, makes them much more enjoyable. The PH around here makes the rain acidic, and a drop of water let to dry on my wheels made the drop an etched circle, microns thin... some wet n dry 2000 grit sand paper removed the etching.. and alittle cheap Mothers aluminum polish made them like mirrors.

Mothers Mag Aluminum Polish as others have said, then I use Meguires NXT Spray wax, let that dry, buff it out and they come out looking as good as chrome IMO.
The NXT has seemed to help get rid of some water spots I had. Just takes a lot of elbow grease to keep em clean..this is the only down side to polished aluminum.
One other tip you might already know about is to use warm soap and water to clean them, and always clean them when they are cool,I use Meguires Car Shampoo for soap on my wheels.
When I wash my car the neighbors think I am nuts because I cover my wheels with plastic garbabe bags or towels so the wheels will stay dry while I wash the car, otherwise water spots form while I am trying to dry the car off
It's a love hate relationship with these kind of things

I might add that it is a good idea to wipe down your wheels if they get wet in service. As soon as I pull in the garage I make sure I dry them with a towel...makes a world of difference.
