This could be a well maintained car, but with all the very low mileage vettes out there I think I would look for something with a few less miles. You could probably go to nada or kelly to get an estimate.
i bought my 97 with 85k on it for $18k. 108k miles the motor blew.
$10k later i have a factory , dealer installed ls1 with 3 year/36,000mi. warranty.
so basically it ended up costing me $28k. dont do it. find one with alot less miles unless you can get that high mileage vette for super cheap. maybe around $15k.
A Local w/ a black 2000 a4 w/ 12x,xxx sold his for 13k out the door.
Car was mint and had nice aftermarket wheels on it. Also had 7" motorized in dash/dvd etc. But the miles just killed his selling price.

I would have spent my $10k on a forged LS2 with 550rwhp
there's a price @ which you cannot let the 2000 magnetic red ride w/ 120k on it go. american cars are not known for longevity, particularly those that surpass the 100k mark. if you can, keep looking. conventional wisdom says buy the newest car with the lowest mileage in the best condition you can. bub

I would go for the $16,500 then, and look elsewhere if he balks on your offer. If he has performed the proper preventive maintenance there is no reason to let this one go away if you can get it at this price. I have seen some high mileage Vettes in this forum, one had just rolled over 300,000 miles.

Sounds too high to me! I'd keep looking unless you really like the car. You're the one who has seen it in person I hope. It may be clean as hell. But still high for 120k!
Mike98SilVert, I am a Long Islander as well. The C5 you found on the forum is nice, but I think it is located in MI. But if any of you guys know of any C5's for sale within a 200 mile radius of NYC, let me know. I want to spend around 15000. I don't really mind high mileage as long as the car is clean.
In my search for C5's I went to look at one in Farview, NJ, it was a Black/Black auto coupe with 137000 miles on it, the owner said it was clean, and nice, etc, etc, on the phone I had him down to 13500. I go to look at the car, and the driver's side seat had a rip on it, the car was repainted in many places, and was just in horrible condition. Here is a link to the vette, it was on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-...QQcmdZViewItem
The highest bidder was a flake, so I went to go check the car out, it looks nice on ebay, but it def was not worth 13000!!

That's quite a few miles, and it would really depend on how well maintained the car has been. If it checks out, a price of $15.5-16K would be a decent deal.
