anyone have these new Toyo's on their Z? i know every tire is made differently, so i'd like to see how these are mounted on the rear Z wheels. are they cut bigger, smaller or same as than the supercars?
I have a set on my showroom room for my Z but haven't mounted them. If you want to swing by Stamford to check them out unmounted, stop by. see my profile for website.
It's my understanding the rears are not the same size ( 295/40/18 ) as the Proxes were...any truth to that??? I've been running the T1's and like them. What's the difference between the two besides the tread design??
I'm getting ready to put new shoes on my Z...
We have been running T1R's on some of our more powerfull BMW's, 650 rwhp and up, and the R's hook up a bit better than the S's. If that is any indication than I think we will love these on our Z's. I have yet to mount mine, not enough time and my F1's are not bald yet, but I am working on that, hehehe. I measured the tread depth new and it is just about 1/2". These tires look like they will tear your face off.
I need to replace my t1-S's on the rear. They were rated 300 AA A.
I think I will like the new T1-R's since they are a little softer compound. I find as the 3/2002 mounted T1-S's have aged, the rubber hardened and I definitely feel more tire spin in the winter.
What maybe a concern is the grooves from the middle to the edge don't go all the way to the edge wall of the tire as they did on the T1-S's. This might impede the swiping of water away from the middle of the tire outwards. Time will tell.
I loved the T1-S's in the rain, but I no longer commute in the deluges so it doesn't matter to me.
