Thee are lots of opinions on one versus the other in the Audio/Electronics section under the General corvette area.
I have both brands. I use the 8500 in my other vehicles and the V1 in my Vettes because it has longer range. Last weekend on a country cruize with club members. I was fourth in line. My V1 picked up the Ka at least 2 seconds before the lead car's 8500. Despite the distance difference It sounded earlier. Impressive.
The people who own x50's will say they are as good as, if not better than, V1's. The people who own V1's will say they are better than x50's. It's a personal choice---who really knows which unit is better??? I have a x50 and have no complaints. Good luck w/ your selection...
Bought a PassPort 8500X50. Impressive. Seen it is as good if not better than the V1.
Any feed back?
I have owned both. They each have some advantages over the other.
That said, if you really want to know what other members think, why not try the search function? This whole "what's the best radar detector" subject comes up, what, once a week?
I've got both and that extra sensitivity with the V1 can be a PIA picking up the "dirty" detectors on the road. The arrows make a big difference to me, they are not a gimmick.

The arrows have saved me a number of times because security on this military reservation occasionally runs multiple radars on the same stretch of highway. However, I do pickup bleed-over from cheap detectors.

And I think the arrows are worth it. I can't recall how many times I've picked up radar, indicated by my V1 arrow, from behind, and just kept driving my speed without needing to slow down. I bet the 8500x50 owner wouldn't have done that, he doesn't know where the source is coming from!
